About Jonathan Lear
After studying architecture in the late 1980's, I followed my passion to work with wood (which was first ignited by a chair assignment on my university degree course) and started to design and make furniture for myself. I was then asked to create some original shop fittings and display cases for a rapidly expanding retail company in Bristol. This lead to further furniture commissions and the founding of Jonathan Lear Furniture in 1990. Many projects later I continue run my business and I feel very fortunate to have been able to follow my passion for working with wood every day for the last 30 years.
Workshop
Situated just outside Bristol and in the heart of the beautiful Somerset countryside the workshop originally formed part of a group of farm buildings. Now converted into workshops and set in acres of beautiful famland which is gradually being planted with hundreds of mixed woodland trees by my environmentally minded landlord.
The workshop itself is equipped with all the modern machinery needed to efficiently process materials and manufacture quality furniture using a combination of modern and traditional techniques.
Services
We design and manufacture furniture that will not only enhance your space and environment but will fit in perfectly with the architectural elements of its surroundings. We also aim to exceed our clients expectations in design and quality of manufacture and installation.
On a practical level we work closely with our clients to produce a piece of furniture that functions perfectly within their brief whether it be a built-in bookcase or a individual piece of furniture.
My extensive experience and desire to make beautiful, useful furniture is applied to every unique piece that we produce. The quality of materials and making techniques means that our furniture will not deteriorate with age or use, but look and function perfectly for many years to come.
